More exciting news from Star Alerts and The Napoleon Hill Foundation. As you probably already know, Barnes and Noble in conjunction with the Napoleon Hill Foundation is releasing the new Think and Grow Rich next month. Its title – Three Feet From Gold.
Think & Grow Rich – Three Feet From Gold
This is going to be the biggest book launch in a long time and we are proud to announce that they have named Star Alerts as an Official Sponsor of the Three Feet From Gold book launch. What an honor to be a part of this monumental book series. For those of you who don’t know the story of the original Think and Grow Rich, it goes a little something like this. It’s 1908 and the country finds itself struggling. The richest man of the time, Andrew Carnegie gives Napoleon Hill a letter and commissions him to go around and interview all the most successful people in the nation. What resulted was the book, Think and Grow Rich. This book has been attributed with creating more millionaires than any other book in the history of the world!

EXPERT ADVICE: HOW TO SURF
Hans Hagen, a professional surfer turned adventure traveler from Laguna Beach, California, has been part of the first surfing expeditions to far-flung locales like the Outer Hebrides and the Shetland Islands in Scotland, Nova Scotia, India, Africa and the Philippines. Who better to give a surfing lesson to Quixtar EDC Dean Kosage and his 8-year-old daughter,Teagan? Dean, an adventure junkie who was raised on boats in the Florida Keys, is an accomplished windsurfer but had never tried surfing. He and Teagan were more than ready for the challenge. In Dean’s words, “I’m the opposite of a nine-to-five guy. I built my own business so I could have new experiences like hunting alligators in Guatemala, daring to learn a standing back tuck dive…and learning how to surf!”

“Chasing an eight-year-old in the surf takes its toll. With a Rhodi Blast, I can keep charging all day long.”

Understanding the Ocean
A surfing instructor can help you learn about tides, weather patterns, channels, rip currents, intervals (how often and how many waves come in a set) and other factors that will affect your surfing experience. This will help you know the best place to paddle.

To Position Yourself On the Board, Start On the Sand
First, figure out your stance: lie down on the board on your stomach, push up with your arms, and jump to your feet in a sideways, board-riding position. Which foot is in the back? If your right foot is in back, you’re “regular foot.” If your left foot is in back, you’re “goofy foot.” Now you can practice popping up on the board from a paddling position.
TIPS FROM HANS:
How To Paddle
Position yourself on your stomach on the board so you feel in balance. You want to be far enough back on the board so the nose doesn’t pearl (go under water). To get to the line-up, or the place where surfers are catching waves, point your board straight out, perpendicular to the breaking waves, and paddle out using a long smooth freestyle stroke. Don’t drag your feet in the water. To make it through a breaking wave that’s not too big, paddle decisively toward it and push down on the sides of your board, allowing the whitewater to pass between you and the board. In slightly bigger waves, you’ll need to learn to “turn turtle”: grab the rails, or sides, of the board and flip it over, letting the foam roll over you.

How to Catch a Wave
A surf instructor can help you get the timing down; it’s the trickiest part. Paddle into a wave that’s beginning to break with your back slightly arched and your chest up. When you feel the wave pick you up, pop up and spring to your feet in the stance you practiced on the sand. Find your balance, back foot towards the tail of the board, centered. Keep your ankles and knees flexible; it’s always easier to keep your balance from a slightly crouched position.

Young filmmaker from Bellevue Washington goes Hollywood
While a in sophomore high school the then 17 year-old Nick along with friends David Ly, and Chris Kennewick brainstormed a school project of epic proportions.
What started as an idea grew into “Small Change,” a short film with an Indie feel and a unique story line.
The film takes place over a 25 year span, then rewinds to show how one simple action can change the world.
“We shot a couple of scenes with close friends and contacts, they came out pretty good but we still didn’t have anyone to play the main roles,” says Nick when questioned about the early stages of the film.
While shooting a skate video he came across a connection with Bryan Gallinger a local film producer and entertainment connection.
Nick approached Gallinger and asked him to play one of the lead roles Ben.
After reviewing the script and catching Giersdorf’s vision for the film Gallinger joined the project and “took the whole thing to a higher level,” according to Nick.
Once the two joined forces they caught the attention of Dean Kosage who shared his connections and was able to bring on Trey Parker of the Film “Newsies” and boy band EYC, and Kari Ann Peniche who was raining as Miss Teen Oregon 2002 at the time.
From there they brought in a writer to rework Giersdorf’s screenplay into a professional script.
Two people that helped evolve the project to the next level were Dean Kosage and Bryan Gallinger.
“Dean loves meeting people with potential and helping them develop their goals.”
Gallinger “is very good at Networking,” according to Nick who says he lined up a bar for a shot that would normally cost $3000 for free as well as a sail boat for one of the romantic scenes. “In Hollywood a producer knows everybody and call in favors when you need them, Bryan knows everybody, “ says Nick.
Dean Kosage a business owner, who became financially independent in his early twenties and today according to Giersdorf Dean, “Finances films, is connected to pageants and other entertainment projects.” Dean took his business digital in 1999 when he contracted with a top E-tailer.
Nick adds, “Dean is also asked to speak around the nation, and he meets with celebrities and hits different events.” Nick says, ”Dean spends some of his time showing people how to create residual or ongoing incomes verses a lump sum of money so that even after you are done working you still get paid.”
When asked what sets people like Gallinger and Kosage apart from the rest Nick says, “ It’s all in the personality, being likable. They have great communication skills. In Hollywood they ask are you fun to work with, that’s how you make it.”
Nick now in his 2nd semester says his experiences in filmmaking have set him a step ahead of his peers at film school. Keep an eye out for possible release of “small change,” at a venue near you. Be sure to look for more from this young man as he uses his connections in entertainment and business to launch his future success.

Jasmine Jorgensen after the Crown
Currently a “normal” 17 year old girl though she is a step ahead by already attending a local college in her community. But finishing High school a year early may be the least of her achievements over the past few years as she also held the title of Miss Teen Washington 2003 and lived a life most girls only dream of for 12 plus months.
Jasmine’s adventures included the typical parade hosting gigs plus trips to Hollywood, and a trip to New York during the 9-11 anniversary where she visited hot spots and clubs, and hit some flashy fashion shows.
Jorgensen has plans on possibly heading to UCLA to attain a 2-year degree a month after she turns 18. She plans on studying politics or psychology.
“My destiny was changed;” say Jorgensen after looking back on here pageant experience. At the start of the pageant Jasmine had never been involved in the pageant world before. Luckily she was able to befriend a young entertainment personality named Bryan Gallinger. Bryan coached Jorgensen and connected her with some of his local and national contacts. Something that Jasmine says made all the difference.
“Bryan and Dean gave me the confidence in myself that I could do this,” says Jasmine. The Dean she is referring to is Dean Kosage. Kosage is a local millionaire in Washington who has life coached and helped to direct many celebrities and up and coming talent in various industries. Jorgensen goes on to say, “I don’t think I could have done as well without them.”
Kosage financially independent since his early twenties has dabbled in film and music for over a decade as a side line to his primary focus of life coaching and mentoring others in and outside of business.
Not only did Dean offer advice, but also connections. After winning the pageant Jasmine and here family were invited back to Dean’s Home for a private event with local and nation VIP’s and some of the celebrities judges from the Pageant.
The guest list ranged from TV personalities, to Grammy award winners, to entertainment lawyers and agents. One thing Jorgensen points out, “the pageant definitely provided great connections.” She boasts a file full of names and numbers from contacts she’s made around the nation.
Jorgensen did make a special connection with one of the celebrities judges from the pageant Tyler Hoechlin. Hoechlin played Tom Hanks son in the feature film “The Road to Perdition,” and currently stars in “7th Heaven” on the WB. During her rain Jasmine visited Hoechlin in Los Angeles and was his date for his high school winter formal.
“I’ve started to look at life without restrictions” say Jorgensen as she reflects on her pageant experience. For her it was much more then tears and a tiara it was an opportunity to launch her life.
What does the future hold for Jorgensen? “I love to dance,” she says with excitement in her voice, “I’d really like to be able to perform and help other people feel good about themselves too.”
If you’d like to see Jorgensen’s crowning moment and all the excitement of the 2003 Miss Teen Washington Pageants, or have always just wondered what pageant life is really like you can pick up a copy of the behind the scenes video.

In 2004 Grass Roots Network™ boast 9 growing divisions and more international entertainment connections then ever before. Which is a far cry from their humble “garage band” beginnings in Washington State.
Grass Roots creatively combines the “coolness” of extreme sports and live music with the “importance” of inspiring and empowering youth with positive messages delivered through a series of live, broadcast and new media channels.
Grass Roots launched in 1993 with all-age concert promotion. It started as a way to get the word out about local bands and help them build a following. Company founder Bryan Gallinger a “natural networker” expanded the reach of his promotions throughout Washington State. In 1996 Gallinger extended his entertainment connections worldwide in modeling and acting. Then Grass Roots stepped into Production in 1998 and in September 2001 launched Grass Roots Network™ with new-media endeavors that have solidified the vision for the entire company with 9 different divisions. Today Grass Roots currently produces film, music, extreme sports, acting & modeling, Health & Fitness, Promotions, Artist Development, education and television (Xtreem TV™) throughout the Pacific Northwest and sparking in new locations around the US and Canada.
Bryan always studied business while in pursuit of his entertainment dreams, which has apparently paid off in recent years, as he has become a major impact player in northwest business circles. Gallinger owns and operates several enterprises outside of Grass Roots and is personally coached by several individuals and couples that have retried in their twenties and are willing to show Bryan how to dominate in business.
Bryan points to Kosage’s “grace and ability to lead” as key elements that allow him to mentor people personally and professionally. Dean, whose business endeavors semi-retired him in his early twenties, was unavailable for comment. But according to Gallinger, he is ranked highly in his industry and still able to sleep in and spend time with his 7 year-old daughter.
Kosage and Gallinger have done a substantial amount of networking in the entertainment world as Dean has formed alliance with some of the top players in Hollywood and played a part in film and music from a behind the scenes angle. Through Dean, Bryan has met key producers and agents, Grammy award winners, entertainment lawyers, radio personalities, and TV/film stars like Tyler Hoechlin of “7th Heaven.”
Gallinger is no stranger to the entertainment world. He started playing the drums in high school at the age of 18 with his own band, which turned into a decade of national performances with groups such as Relic, Toy Soldier, Sammarium, Negative 7 and Idlemine. At age 20 he put his band on hold to purse modeling. In March of 2000 he moved to Italy to do commercial print work and went on to host as an American guest VJ for the Italian version of MTV. His focused changed when he returned to the states and poured a significant amount of time in recent years into scouting out drug free and business minded entertainers.
Today, Bryan’s credits include working with over 100 bands (local & national) and assisting athletes, models, actors, and many more on and off-screen in developing their careers. Bryan is the sole owner, producer and host of Xtreem TV™, which profiles extreme sports, live music, music videos and extreme lifestyles thru a magazine-style show. One artist he is developing is a young filmmaker Nick Giersdorf from Bellevue, WA. “Nick has that rare combination of brains, drive, drug-free, Christian, talent, vision and humbleness that Grass Roots looks for,” says Bryan. Together they co-produced and wrote an independent film titled ‘Small Change’. Bryan even plays a feature part in this cause & effect indy film scheduled to debut late ‘04/early ‘05. By combining entertainment connections, this initial “small” effort turned into a high quality independent film staring local and national talent and received significant media coverage. In July of ’03, Bryan left the rock & roll world by retiring as Negative 7’s drummer to pursue a larger vision. According to Joe Gingerella, Negative 7’s manager, “Bryan is always the backbone of his group both personally and business.” Currently, Joe (owner of Squeeze Media Group) and Bryan are business associates on many projects. “My vision is so much larger than performing alone today. I am seeking mentorship from someone who has obtained that rare combination of true success, in my opinion, which is a balance of financial freedom, a good relationship with the Lord, family values, humble character, giving back to the community and world and having fun!”
“Thanks to Dean, I can finally fulfill my personal dreams and give back what I need and have always dreamed of by developing other dreamers.”
“To promote personalities that are substance-free and whose ‘make-a-difference’ dreams are inclusive of others.” -From the GRNetworks.NET “Purpose” section
Gallinger seems determined to take entertainment further then the hype of Hollywood and to craft a more meaningful message. He also has plans to mentor youth using his industry connections and launching educational and out reach programs internationally using technology, entertainment and sports as the basis.
Bryan who appears to be very level headed and grounded for someone involved in entertainment, contributes his success to a great family environment growing up. “I was given a foundation of values and morals that allowed me to keep my head on straight even in the midst of the exciting world of entertainment,” says Gallinger.

Look Out Asia! Damon Butler Goes International
Former boy band member Damon Butler is about to head overseas for a 7-month commitment with a Japanese theme park 3 times the size of Disneyland.
At age 12 he danced for Regan at the White House. In his twenties he toured the globe with a leading international boy band, and now in his early 30’s Damon Butler will leave the US to step in to a principle role in a Japanese Theme park.
With two recent films under his belt, writing credits on top 40 hits and a recent commercial spot with Captain Morgan’s Rum some would question why Damon would be leaving the US at all.
Apparently the opportunity and adventure were just too much for the boisterous and energetic Butler to turn down.
Damon, who says he was perceived as “mysterious,” back in his boy band days is now well respected for his comedic ability and killer smile. From sex symbol to funnyman might seem like a long way to go, but for the versatile talent of Butler it was a natural move.
You can see Butler cut lose in the 2003 release “LOVE DON’T COST A THING” Staring Nick Cannon, and Steve Harvey. Damon plays a Martial Arts Mambo Instructor. Need we say more?
Butler stays active in his first passion, which is dance. Damon actually met former boy band member Trey Parker while taking a dance class almost 2 decades ago. Though there boy band days are over the duo have remained close. Now Damon has plans on producing a dance album and releasing it when he returns to the states.
“The dance thing has been great, “ says Damon of his experience with a major Hollywood event company where he has been a lead dancer for 3 years.
Beyond singing and dancing Butler also boasts some killer networking connections like Dean Kosage.
Dean financially independent since age 23 thanks to his business endeavors has transcended his industry and can often be found on film sets or in a recording studio with friends. “Dean is very active in our lives,” say Damon of the thirtysomething millionaire. Damon has introduced Kosage to many contacts in Hollywood an act that may come full circle as Kosage is positioned to create significant media deals over the next decade.
“Dean surrounds himself and his daughter with positive and accomplished people,” says Damon. Butler recalls when he was a celebrity judge along with Kosage for the 2003 Miss Teen Washington Pageant, “There was all kinds of talent up there for that event.”
“You can tell Dean’s intention is to really help people, and provide opportunities for his young daughter, says Butler, “people I introduce to Dean and his contacts always feel so welcomed and so much love.”
Damon will step into the spotlight as part of a production for Huis Ten Bosch a very unique Dutch style theme park located in Kyushu, Japan. You have to see it to believe it so I suggest visiting their web site at:
english.huistenbosch.co.jp
Huis Ten Bosch opened its gates on March 25, 1992 The total costs of the project were $2.5 billion.
Though Butler has visited Japan on past tours and trips this will be the first time he’ll actually relocate to the Far East. “I loved Japan on visits, says Butler, but I was always too busy to see the sights and meet the people.”
How will this over the top talent fit into a quite Dutch Village?
We don’t know but we can’t wait to find out.
